The RJ 20

Your weekly favourites, voted by listeners. Twenty years, twenty songs.

The RJ 20 is built from the heart votes you give the tracks you hear here on RelaxingJazz.com.

The charts load with JavaScript, which seems to be switched off. The music still plays from any of our listening options.

This week’s chart

The latest RJ 20, frozen each Monday.

How voting works

  1. Love what you hear

Press the heart on the song that’s playing, or on anything that aired here in the last three hours. Not quite your thing? “Not for me” is there too, and only the station ever sees it.

  2. One vote per song, per week

Changed your mind? Press it again to take your vote back. The chart week runs from Monday to Sunday, Saint Lucia time.

  3. How songs are ranked

We weigh up how many of you loved a song against how many said “not for me”, and rank by how sure we can be that listeners love it. Songs with plenty of loves and few “not for me” votes rise to the top, so a single vote can never top the chart. To qualify, a song needs at least three votes in a week, including one love. The Hall of Fame asks for ten.

  4. Frozen every Monday

Early each Monday, last week’s votes become the RJ 20, with arrows for how each song moved, its highest position and its weeks on the chart. Positions 21 to 40 are “bubbling under”.

  5. It shapes the playlist, slowly

Your votes help shape the rotation over the coming weeks. They don’t pick the next song: the playlist is still handcrafted by a person, not an algorithm.

  6. No accounts, no tracking

The first time you vote, your browser keeps a random ID so we can count one vote per song, and a note of your votes so your hearts stay lit. Our privacy notice explains the rest, and has a “Forget me” button.
