Biography
About Chuck Loeb
Chuck Loeb (1955–2017) was a contemporary jazz guitarist, composer and producer from Nyack, New York, who trained at Berklee College of Music. An early break came in 1979, when he became Stan Getz’s musical director and composer, going on to tour and record with Getz for several years. In 1984 he joined Steps Ahead alongside Michael Brecker, and he was also a member of the fusion band Metro.
His solo albums included Mediterranean, The Music Inside, In a Heartbeat and Silhouette, and tracks such as “Music Inside” and “Cruzin’ South” became radio hits. Unspoken (2016) brought him a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, the third of his career. He wrote for, played with or produced artists including Bob James, Carly Simon and Anita Baker, and his television work included theme music for CNN. He was a member of Fourplay from 2010 until his death in 2017, and was part of the original Jazz Funk Soul line-up with Everette Harp and Jeff Lorber.
