Biography
About Freddie Fox
Freddie Fox is a contemporary jazz and R&B guitarist and composer from Tullahoma, Tennessee, who studied at Berklee College of Music. Long before his own debut he was a busy sideman, recording with saxophonists Walter Beasley and Warren Hill, and he has toured as a featured player with Chaka Khan, Najee and Atlantic Starr. He also supplied rhythm guitar for “Mornin’” and “Ordinary People” on George Benson and Al Jarreau’s 2006 album Givin’ It Up.
His self-titled debut arrived in 2003 with guests including Gerald Albright and Evelyn “Champagne” King, and Feelin’ It followed with Najee, Nelson Rangell and Walter Beasley. Limitless (2020) brought in Marion Meadows, Kevin Whalum and Melvin Lee Davis, and its track “Too Tuff” went to No. 1 on Billboard’s Smooth Jazz Airplay chart, one of several Top 20 entries for him there. Later singles include “Freddie’s Groove”, “I’m Back” and “Grateful”. His playing is smooth and soulful, drawing on funk, R&B, fusion and rock.
