Euge Groove

Euge Groove is the stage name of saxophonist Steven Eugene Grove, a Hagerstown, Maryland native who graduated from the University of Miami’s School of Music. Working sessions in Miami, he played on Exposé’s “Seasons Change”, and after moving to Los Angeles in 1987 he wrote a tune for Richard Elliot’s album The Power of Suggestion; Elliot then put him forward as his successor in Tower of Power, where he stayed for four years. Posting tracks on MP3.com as Euge Groove took him to the top of its jazz chart and led to a deal with Warner Bros., which released his debut in 2000.

Play Date (2002) gave him two No. 1 radio singles in “Slam Dunk” and “Rewind”. He moved to Narada for Livin’ Large (2004) and to Shanachie for Sunday Morning (2009), and later albums include Got 2 Be Groovin’ (2014), Comfort Zone (2023) and The Phoenix (2026). His playing mixes jazz with gospel, blues and R&B, and he names Grover Washington Jr. and David Sanborn among his influences.
